Purging log files

Hello
I've got messages coming to me that my /var partition is full and I realized that it was because i forgot to drop all broadcast traffic (it filled up in a month), and was wondering how to purge the log file. Do I just SSH in and delete it?

  • hi john,

yes, of course you can log in the box, go to /var/log then gelete old logs. you will find them gzipped the the date attached so it is easy to detect which ones to delete. please note I read somewhere there should be  a CRON job to do that in automatic.

Do you know where you find this CRON information so it can be setup to do it automatically.?????
