What should I leave open?

I'll be using ASL strictly for a VPN server for now. I want to block absolutely everything on my firewall rules except for what will allow IPSEC and PPTP connections (I'm using the beta 2.0 version).

What should I leave open?

Also, can I just have a rule "Deny from anywhere to anywhere" and then add allow rules?

what you definitely should leave open is your access to the web-admin.
The ASL policy is "secure by default" [;)]ll be dropped).

So does that mean that by enabling VPN support, the proper policies are automatically sent to IPCHAINS? Does that include PPTP support?

yes, you can activate PPTP and VPN connections without having to worry about packet filter rules at all. [:)]
