QoS over MPLS

Hi there,

we are marking your voice traffic with Microsoft Teams at the Windows Clients with DSCP as Microsoft recommends it.

Voice DSCP 46 (EF)
Video DSCP 34 (AF41)
Screen Sharing DSCP 18 (AF21)

The HP network switches QoS is configured to respect the DSCP values / tags as well. Our branches are connected by a MPLS network without any tunnel with a UTM at each site.

Do we need to configure any QoS Settings at the UTM or will the DSCP bit forwarded untouched to the MPLS network? Any recommendations on qos with microsoft teams using the UTM?

About your question, you don't need to set this in the UTM as these are turned on on the phone system, and they will be forwarded.

Thanks for your response! Helped me a lot.

Another Question regarding Sophos QoS regarding Bandwith Pools came to my mind. The internet connections do not care about DSCP. We have multiple Uplink Interfaces (3 with different speeds) - whats the best way to configure bandwith pools?

Do i need to configure a bandwith pool for each uplink interface or is it enough to configure a bandwith pool for teams on the internal interfaces?

Thank you for the follow-up!

I would suggest configuring a Bandwidth Pool for each uplink interface, so BP guarantees the outbound bandwidth.
