Traffic Shaping for Web Server

In view of Traffic shaping being such a tricky issue, I need help in giving priority access to our web server.

Our web server is Apache Guacamole which is basically a client-less remote desktop gateway. Users access the server over HTTP which, further, provides RDP access to Windows client within the browser itself (using HTML5). Now, this needs to have priority over all other since our entire infrastructure is setup for this purpose only.

Currently, the traffic selector configuration looks like this:

And the Bandwidth Pool configuration looks like this:

Could someone shed some light if this is the correct configuration?

Another question is - do we need to further specify traffic shaping rule (bound to internal/LAN interface) for Guacamole to Windows access? If yes, how should we do it.

Thanks a ton in advance!!

  • looks ok.

especially the service-any is good, because the prioritisation don't hit the answer-packets often.

  • Thanks Dirk!

Just one more question - do we need to further specify traffic shaping rule (bound to internal/LAN interface) for Guacamole to Windows access? If yes, how should we do it.

  • Mostly this is not necessary.

You have to place traffic prioritization where a bottleneck may exist.

Otherwise, you have to identify the traffic, define them by source/destination/port and place the rule outbound to the matching interface.
