QoS monitoring

Hi folks,

is there way in UTM 9 to monitor the QoS queues? I wanna connect 8 locations via vpn and I have to make sure that VoIP traffic comes first.

Best regards,

Daniel

  • In general, Daniel, it's hard to get much response to general questions like you started with. We're better at addressing specifics as in your comment this morning instead of "Tell me everything I have to do to accomplish X."

If you're using IPsec tunnels between the locations, instead of using DSCP bits, I prefer to select 'Keep classification after encapsulation' on the 'Advanced' tab of QoS. You will also want two Download Throttling rules, in order, limiting inbound VoIP traffic to a gigabit and then limiting Any traffic to 1000kbps less that your guaranteed download bandwidth. In essence, the first rule is an Exception for the second.

  • Hi Bob, bit of an old thread but it would be good to see something that could show you the utilisation of the QoS rather than just having to guess.

I'm sure pfSense has had something like this for a long time in it's gui and Cisco can certainly do it albeit via the CLI
