No Voice on Remote PBX

Hello everyone

I’m here looking for some enlightment, as this is driving me nuts

Here’s the scenario:

  • Location A - Sophos utm v9.506 – LAN 1.1.2.0/24
  • Location B - Sophos utm v9.501 – LAN 1.1.3.0/24
  • Location C - RED15 connected to location B – Standard/Split - LAN 1.1.4.0/26
  • Each location has its own PBX, localy hosted lines (E1/SIP)
  • I have an IPSEC VPN Tunnel to connect A and B, automatic firewall enabled
  • RED15 on B have the network A on Splitnetworks,
  • IPSEC on A and B share the RED15 LAN, remote and local network where needed
  • I can reach B and C from A, ping, remote desktop working, transfer files, etc
  • From A, I can register an IP phone extension on the PBX located at B, voice working 2 ways
  • From A, I can register the VOIP phone on the PBX located at C, here's the weird stuff, we can start a call and everything works, voice 2 ways, the problem is when we try a 2nd call, there's no voice

What should I look for, what I am missing?, do you need any screens? what info may I supply you to get some help

  • I have looked at Firewall and IPS logs on A and B and nothing gets blocked, at least its not showing
  • I have set rules for Appfilter to allow the VOIP protocols to work on A and B
  • Firewall on A and B is set to allow any outbound and allows communications between A,B, C, LAN segments

Thanks in advanced

  • Are you sure that this is a firewall issue and not a PBX issue?

Is other traffic passing correctly between the three subnets? It can be easy to misconfigure the these rules depending on how you segmented the zones.

  • Hola larellanos,

If doing #1 in Rulz doesn't help you find the answer, please show a diagram of your topology including the devices mentioned and the relevant IPs.  A picture of a hand-drawn diagram is good.

    Cheers - Bob
