Root/Loginuser Password not change on Shell Access interface

Hello,

I am trying to setup SSH accounts for root via the admin account. So Far every time i try to login via root i am refused because of credentials. I change both Root and loginuser password and with the same passwords i am still unable to log in. Is there something im missing? Thanks for any help!

Could be a known issue.

Try setting the loginuser and root passwords separately. First one, apply, then the other, apply.

Then, if you didn't already know, you must login with loginuser first, then su to get root. You can only login directly with root if using public key auth.

Thanks Scott I had generated a public key for root and attempted to login that way. Still the credentials i set didn't work. The login password for login user doesn't work as well.

What version? I just noticed this with 9.314, even after changing the passwords in shell access, I was still unable to SSH in.

I am on 9.314 as well However i was seeing this with 9.2.

Here is something new.... I rebooted the UTM and now i am unable to login to my admin account for some strange reason as well.

I'm not seeing this, guys. Sometimes, an Up2Date mangles the config. Try restoring a recent backup, and then login and restore the backup made before the Up2Date.

Any luck with any of that?

Flick ssh OFF

Change passwords

Click ssh ON

Worked for me.

My theory: It's linux based, like most linux services, you have to reset the service when you do changes to the config.
