Adding UMTS interface - Anyone get ATT Working?

I'm looking into adding a usb ATT cellular as a backup interface and hope to learn from those who have gone before me on this topic.

Are the USB ATT LTE usb sticks known to work or known to not work?

Where do you usually find the login/pass and dial string? Is that something the cell provider gives or do you need to dig around to find it?

    Here is the (working) solution that I finally went with:

    I purchased a universal WiFi adapter device from NetGear.

    It is a lightweight bridge that allows you to route between the ethernet port to WiFi. It has an internal DHCP server as well as a web config page to set up the WiFi connection, so you can set up your WAN port on the UTM as a dynamic ethernet instead of (hit or miss) 3G/UMTS.

    I then enable the WiFi hotspot on my phone and voila! I have a backup WAN connection. I keep the WAN2 on my UTM enabled and only turn on the WiFi hotspot on my phone as needed. For good measure, I set the Uplink Balancing for WAN1 and WAN2 to Active/Active and put the priority of WAN2 to 0, which will pretty much excludes WAN2 unless WAN1 is completely offline. This seemed to work better than an Active/Passive setup as there was no failover lag and it did not confuse dynDNS until necessary.

    The nice part about this device is that it is powered via USB, so you can use a USB port on your UTM hardware to power the device without using the separate (but included) wallwart.
