Adding UMTS interface - Anyone get ATT Working?

I'm looking into adding a usb ATT cellular as a backup interface and hope to learn from those who have gone before me on this topic.

Are the USB ATT LTE usb sticks known to work or known to not work?

Where do you usually find the login/pass and dial string? Is that something the cell provider gives or do you need to dig around to find it?

    I have this question also. I am looking for any successful use cases with AT&T wifi hotspots or smartphones via USB tethering for a backup WAN for my UTM 9.3x. 

    I tried USB tethering with my LG G3, but the kernel did not like it:
