DNS over VPN just works with FQDN

Hello,

We tried to integrate Outlook Access through VPN tunnel but no connection seemed possible. When looking at the DNS lookups we realized, that name resolution just works when the name looked up is in the FQDN format. Without domain identifier no lookup is possible. A lookup request from the internal network ist reselved just fine both ways. I've tried different DNS configurations on the Firewall and looked for a rule which could possibly block DNS-Requests but nothing solved the issue and I just don't know where to look anymore.
We are using a Sophos SG 115 with UTM Version 9.305-4

You would have to set the default domain in the clients' OS.

I can't test that right now, as I don't have a domain machine with me, but I will try that as soon as possible.

EDIT: Unfortunately that was not the solution, as the machines connecting over VPN are in the domain in question.

I am experiencing the same problem. When connected by VPN, it seems to ignore the domain suffix search configured in DHCP (in my case the DHCP and DNS servers are our windows DC on the office LAN). Resolution of FQDN's works fine.
