Unable to ever pull a username in a report?

Hi - I'm using Astaro Security Gateway 625's in an active-active cluster, loaded with Sophos UTM 9.208-8. There once was a time when I could go to the Logging & Reporting, click the time range (last week, for example) let that load and then click "+", and add a filter for username, and after some churning, get a quick report of that user's traffic for that time range. Now, that seems to have disappeared. Despite my looking for what data sets I may have neglected to turn on (or for that matter, what may have been turned off!) Has anyone else experienced this loss of report functionality? 
What I now have to do is literally download all of the log files, un-tar them and then use a grep for the username on gigabytes worth of logs, and pore through them using Notepad++, and unfortunately, I can't format a report out of that for managers without a LOT of work. Any insights as to the reasons for this behavior would be appreciated! Thanks.
