Automatic User Creation (webfilter)

Hello,
I am using UTM 9.201-23 trial version.

I have enabled "Create users automatically" and checked all available facilities:
Client Authentication
Web Filter
End-User Portal
SMTP Proxy
WebAdmin
Hotspot

Automatic user creation is working when I login to User Portal so I know that AD is configured correctly.

However my impression was that the users also should be created when authenticating to proxy, but that is not the case. User authenticate to proxy and are able to browse allowed URL categories, and blocked categories are denied, so web filter is working, but users are not created.

Did I misinterpret something or do I need to configure something further?

Hey!  I know this is an old thread, but I wanted to ask.. did you ever resolve your problem, or did you end up giving up?

I've in the process of trying to configure my first Sophos UTM unit for my company and MAN am I having a ton of issues trying to get everything to work.  The worst part is, all my research usually directs me to a thread like this one, where someone like myself is having a really simple, frustrating issue.. and there's either no responses, someone's acknowledging the issue and claims it will be fixed in a future release, or the solution is outdated and for an older version of UTM.

I just wanted to see if it's just me? or is this appliance REALLY complicated, touchy, and delicate.. [:(]  Even the dealer that sold it to me has had to comp 15 hours of free on-site time trying to iron out all the configuration issues and get the features of the device to function as advertised.

Before you go very far, read the Rulz. Although each of them is one of the "tricks" to creating quality configurations, #6 applies to this question.
