httpproxy.log, values for cached

What are the possible values, and their meaning/significance, for "cached" in httpproxy log http.log?

A sampling of my logs shows:
cached="0"
cached="1"
cached="2"
cached="4"
cached="8"

Primary interest is 9.1 and 9.2.  8.3 as a curiosity, if different.

  • My observations:

    0 = not cached or cache expired, loaded from source server
    1 = cached, loaded from cache
    8 = added to cached, loaded from source server

    The frequency for "2" appears to have changed in/around 9.004 to 9.005 in my logs.  Currently (through 9.111) it appears typically be associated with some type of error:

        101 error="Host not found"
         47 error="No route to host"
         33 error="Timeout while reading response from Server"
         22 error="Connection timed out"
         13 error="Network is unreachable"
         11 error=""
          7 error="Connection refused"
          4 error="DNS resolution timeout"
          1 error="Connection to server timed out"

    A few minutes didn't lead to any insights into the significance of 4 but other distractions call me away from this distraction.

    Any verifiable confirmation, contradictions or documentation is welcome.

    Astaro products: A guide to logfiles and output and the referenced PDF http://sophserv.sophos.com/repo_kb/115634/file/Logfile_Guide-2012-09.pdf appear out of date and incomplete.
