I have set static DHCP/DNS definitions for various devices on my network, and would like to access the admin pages with just the host name (ie. http://freenas).
This works fine from a linux machine or from an android phone. I can open a browser and enter the host name and it takes me to the device's admin page.
It doesn't work quite right on windows machines, though. If I try to access the device from a browser (any browser) it can't resolve the IP. Ping doesn't work either. The strange thing is that nslookup works just fine. Also, if I ping another windows computer (by hostname) it works fine.
I assume that some device on the windows network is acting as the local dns or something. Any ideas? Can I force UTM to do the local dns?
Thanks
