I could not get it to work either on chrome. Kept saying the import was successful but I never saw it on the list of root CAs

For both IE11 and chrome, it says the import is successful, but neither works.

IE11 is too new. I only use Firefox on Windows and Safari in my iPhone. No problems here. What do those other browsers give for complaining?

I don't have firefox on any of my computers. Only IE11 and chrome, neither of which seem to like the certs.

tried with firefox 29 - had to unistall ceert first and reimport - what a pain, if you have quite an amount of clients [:(]

In IE Certificate Import Wizard on step 2 instead "Automatically select the certificate store based on the type of certificate" select "Place all certificates in the following store" and then choose "Trusted Root Certification Authorities".

After that certificate should be trusted both in IE and Chrome. 

Firefox has its own Certificate store which is not dependent on Windows, so if you use it also for Webadmin access you should import CA certificate in Firefox also.

I tried that, and it still did not add it in, I could get it to show up in the intermediate store but that was it.

Try to place it directly in your user profile certificate store without IE wizard:

Start/Run->mmc->Add/Remove snap in->Certificates->My user account and then import the *.cer file into Trusted Root Certification Authorities/Certificates.
