Report Generator

Hello,

What are you guys using to generate a user friendly friendly report that details the internet usage of a given user over a given time period?

I know that I can search the log files, but the result is not ideal for presenting to someone who is not familiar with the report contents.

    I would like to be able to generate a report that would show what sites a particular person has visited over a specified period of time.

    I was asked today to provide one of our assistant principals with a list of sites that a particular student had visited during the month of December.  They are concerned that he has been reported to have been doing a lot of research on guns.

    What I provided him was a Excel spreadsheet that had over 31,000 separate rows of data that he had to look through.

    There may already be a built-in way of doing this, but I can't find it.  Not much point of retaining all this historical data if I can't find some way to generate some decent reports with it.

    I am sure there is some way of doing this, I just don't know how.

    Hi, you probably want to group the data by site domains.

    I'm not sure if the UTM does that or not, but doing it in Excel shouldn't be too hard, and in a SQL db would be trivial.

    Hey Guys,

    I work for Fastvue and we've just launched our latest reporting app exclusively for Sophos UTM.

    Getting a report on the sites someone accessed sorted by timestamp is a breeze. Just go to Reports | Activity Reports and select Username 'equal to' . 

    The report will show a chronological list of that persons activity grouped by site domains, and you can click the individual rows in the report to expand the sites to see full URLs, actions and categories.

    There's also much more too the app, such as real time dashboards and alerts, but you can read more and try out the beta here:

    Yes, this is exactly what we are looking for.  Will give it a try and see if the reports generated are what my director is looking for.



    BarryG:  You and I have wildly different definitions of the word "trivial".  Thanks for the input though.
