DHCP IP conflict new image

Hi all,

I'm getting an IP conflict when I re-image a workstation. The host name is the same and the MAC address is obviously the same, but for some reason when I boot up the machine after being freshly imaged, Windows tells me there is an IP conflict and it can't communicate on the network.

This has happened to me on a number of occasions. Some times the MAC appears more than once on the lease table, sometimes it doesn't.

Is there away to clear or assign a new IP on demand? I know on an Apple Mac OS X, I have the option to change the DHCP Client ID and upon release/renew I get a new DHCP assign ip address. Is there anythin like that for Win7 or that I can do from the UTM?

Currently running Firmware Version 9.003-16

    Like Barry mentioned and by the way it does not matter UTM or other system.
    Static mapping always should be outside of the pool or excluded from the pool  it should never be a part of the pool.
    When there is a static mapping in the pool , there is always a chance that it will lead to a conflict some day.

    Hi all,

    I appreciate the advice about not using a static mapping of an IP in the DHCP pool range, but I want the PC to have a DHCP pool IP. If I can't renew the IP and it keeps assigning the IP even though it is already in use (or thinks it is), how can I tell either Windows or Astaro to NOT assign that IP because it is in use? I will go ahead and change the mapping to an IP outside the DHCP range for now, but it feels messy to have some IPs assigned from DHCP in the pool and some that aren't. 

    I want it to receive a new IP from anywhere else in the range. I have only about 30 devices in the range of about 100 IP addresses. There are plenty of available addresses. 

    Also, there are no other DHCP servers on the network. I have confirmed this with wireshark. I understand if this is a limitation of Windows and Astaro (or Sophos or whatever), but I guess it just bugs me that Apple has had this since at least OSX Tiger, maybe even before.

    I apologize if my frustration is coming out a little too vibrantly here. I've just had some headaches lately with the network and would like to move onto other projects lol
