UTM DNS Configuration Questions

We have a number of computers and other devices on our home LAN and we have assigned static addresses using DHCP reservations for most of them. We have no DNS server (other than whatever UTM provides). For some of computers, we can reach (e.g., ping) them using the hostname, but this doesn't work for all of the devices. For example, all of the windows computers (physical and virtual), 2 ubuntu servers (one physical, one virtual) and a network printer show up. Examples of what isn't showing up are the utm server, the hyperv server, the ups, and some other networked devices. We are trying to figure out why this is happening. Does UTM automatically create DNS entries? If so, how are the host names set? For devices that do not have internally settable hostname, can one be assigned in UTM? Is there a way to view and/or edit the entries?

As a follow-on question, we are would appreciate advice on how to properly setup the DNS, both for ipv4 and ipv6. Our main interface is a DHCP "cable modem" (actually it's a vdsl2 modem). Our ISP provides an ipv4 address and we have ipv6 tunnel from he.net that we would like to use for ipv6.

Any comments / suggestions will be appreciated.

    DNS for host names example.local will be more easy-way after 9.1 release (beta released)
    In Definitions you will be able to create a hosts providing:
    name of definition
    1 host name (.local)
    2 ip x.x.x.x
    3 MAC (in selected DHCP)
    In this way you don't need to create the host on DHCP Service

    Thanks for the reply. Is there any way to view or edit the entries in the utm dns? There must be entries, otherwise I would not be able to ping them using the host name. It seems that the definitions for hosts for dns, dhcp and nat are all separate, even if they are for the same host.
