I currently have Sophos UTM 9 Home setup on a dedicated box with 2 Ethernet ports. I am having trouble getting it configured to actually work network-wise. The admin guide does not spell things out clearly. Here are my questions:
1. Can the UTM be plugged into a switch and allow DHCP for local PCs?
2. ..or do I need a router configured to allow network communication?
3. Is there a forum post or document that deals with correctly setting up a router behind this device?
I am not a network guy I'm a server guy and I'm having trouble getting things to work. The WAN (eth1) is connected to my ISP and appears to be working (up/down is green) but there is always and "error" on my LAN (eth0) link on the down side (up green/down red). I'm just trying to figure out what might be wrong. I can connect to the device with a static IP on the switch but I cannot get Internet to actually work.
My default config is 192.168.2.1 for eth0 which I changed from the default of .100.
Any suggestions are greatly appreciated. I will continue to search for the documentation I'm looking for.
