[8.302] WAN Issues

Hello,

We are looking for some assistance or insight that can be provided. The current layout we have is the following.

We have are External WAN connection (Eth1) will go down and never come back online until the modem has been power cycled. There is network traffic on the line when it is going down but very little as it is usually in the early morning (1-3 AM). We are looking to find the following information.

1. Where can we find the logs for traffic at the time the modem goes down?
2. Is there a health check on the line? Can this be configured or changed?
3. Has anyone encountered this issue before?

I have provided what the current setup looks like (attachment) and the line that is red is the one that is in question. The router is Astaro 110/120, firmware 8.302 with a static IP address set in Ethernet standard on Eth1. If you require any other information let us know.

    Hi, WebMarket, and welcome to the User BB!

    I suspect a failing cable modem, but there are some things you can check before you replace it.  Look first in the "System messages" and "Selfmonitoring" logs.  Also, since you likely have a paid subscription, you should contact your reseller to ask them to submit a support request to Sophos.

    To allow Support to look at your 120, go to 'Management >> WebAdmin Settings' and:
    • Add a user "astaro" to the "SuperAdmins" group
    • Add a Network definition for "Support US" (207.190.231.64/27) to 'Allowed Networks'
    • Apply

    I also recommend that you update to 8.305 as soon as possible--there was a security vulnerability or 2 patched in 8.304 and 8.305.  Not related to your issue, but I spotted that you were only on 8.302.
