Suddenly filling storage disk

Hello,

two days ago the 'Storage' suddenly grew from 23% to 82% usage. It has been around 23% for more then a year, so what can be wrong?
I was running 8.301 but installed 8.302 and rebooted this morning. No change in disk-usage.
As far as I know 'Storage' is mounted on /var/storage and the only 'large' files I can find are several kcore files:
-r-------- 1 root root 1065349120 2012-05-16 07:50 /var/storage/chroot-smtp/proc/kcore

Four of these kcore-files, for: smtp, ftp, http and pop3 could be what takes up the extra 4 to 5 Gig from the 8 GB partition. They can't have been there before because they take more space than the 23% in the past. So what are these files and why were they created recently and how can I fix this?

Edit: just found out that /proc/kcore is like an "alias" for the memory and are not real files that use space on disk.

    Ed, if you search here a bit, you'll find that most storage explosions are caused by a broken PostgreSQL table.  You might check the Selfmonitoring and System messages live logs to see if there are any indications of that.

    I did restart the PostgreSQL database but that didn't solve it.
    Found four large files in /var/storage/core named httpproxy.nnnnn being 1.2 GB each, in total about 5 GB. They have dates of yesterday and today; the period the problem arose. Because in the mean time the disk was almost full I deleted these files and the ASG kept on running. Pff, had to do something! Are these files HTTP-cache? That would be weird because caching is disabled! I first enabled http-caching and then deleted the cache from the GUI but nothing happened.

    Files found in /var/storage/core are generally crash dump files... sounds like your HTTP Proxy blew up a couple of times... you may want to check the logfiles during the time those files were created for clues.  If you have support (are using a commercial license), I'd suggest starting a case with Astaro Support.
