Clustering question

I have three ASG 425's clustered running 8.203.  That will be connected to three different core switches. The ports on the Cisco switches are 10/100/1000, the eth3 ports on the 425's are 10/100/1000.

My question is this.... can I utilize the 1000mb speed of the ports or do I need to back the Cisco core switch ports down to 100mb?

    first you have to be using good nics(no marvel or 3coms or realteks..intel and broadco are your only sure fire bets to have full hardware nics)..which the appliances have.  Also I've been using at least 2ghz cpu's...which IIRC the 425's also have very fast cpu's(i'd have to check my files to be absolutism sure but i'm confident they are more than fast enough).  Jumbos are great if EVERYTHING in the network is set to use them.. otherwise the devices that aren't using jumbos the appliances have to fragment them back down...try standard frames first.  If you aren't getting good enough results then you'll need to set the mtu on all nodes in the network for the same size jumbo frames.

    not necessarily.  Jumbos are a good thing but i've gotten more than 90% using standard frames.  It depends on your hardware.


    The ASG's are going into Cisco 3750X's, once we do that the internet speed is flaky at best. When I unplug them out of the 3750's, and plug them back into the Linksys  8 port gb switch, all is good.
