Android and WP7 devices don't get IP adresses

Hi,

I've a somewhat strange issue, which I can't explain to myself and didn't find anything similar here in the forums.

I've the following setup (at home):
ASG 120
eth1+eth2 bridged 
SMC Barricade 2804 WBR (wireless router) connected to eth2
internal network connected to eth1 

Same issue if the wireless router is connected to the bridge or directly to eth1
ASG IP intern: 192.168.123.252
DHCP enabled on ASG: Range 192.168.123.101 - 200
wireless router: fixed IP 192.168.123.254

All cable clients: working fine
Windows 7 / Vista wireless clients: working fine
Windows XP wireless clients: taking like 30 seconds for receiving an IP adress, but finally getting one
Android, Windows Phone 7 (I think iOS as well, not too sure) clients: IP adress cannot be received from DHCP. Manually configured Android clients are working fine, WP7 cannot be configured manually.

The DHCP log for the WP7 device says (MAC adress and ASG name replaced):

After that, the phone gives up. Same scenario for the Android devices.

Any idea what might happen here?

It seems that the handsets don't really receive the offered IP adress, while all other clients do.
The very same handsets work without any issues in other wireless networks.
What's additionally interesting here is:
- Android clients didn't work from the beginning of the ASG here
- WP7 worked until the WP7.5 Mango update
- The above mentioned difference between W7/Vista clients and the XP one

Seems to be somehow related to the clients' network stack.

    Hi,
    it is not an ASG issue.

    My WP7 worked fine until W P 7.5 and now fails to connect on either my AP10/30 at home or the Linksys WAPs at work or even the free networks in shopping centres.

    The android and Iphone/Ipad devices work fine. My sons have 2 iphones and an android phone which all work through the ASG using DHCP.

    Hi,

    As I said, Android devices behave the same in my setup and both phones work flawlessly in any other wireless network I've ever tried.

    I'm not saying it's an "Astaro issue", but pretty obviously it's an issue with the devices involved (not excluding my wireless router).

    From my experience, my WP7 / 7.5 device (HTC 7 Trophy) works pretty well in my company`s network, hotels' and friends' networks. Before and after the update to 7.5.

    Hi Patrick, what version of Astaro are you using?

    There was another thread mentioning wireless clients not getting dhcp addresses, apparently a reboot of the firewall helped.

    Just connected another wireless router instead of the SMC and this did the trick. Something seems to go just very wrong with the SMC device.

    WP7 and Android do get their IPs in a snap and so does the Windows XP notebook [:)]

    You had the DHCP server disabled on the SMC, right?

    Yes, of course - it just (should have) acted as a stupid AP.
