Verizon FiOS DHCP Release

Hello,

I am trying to figure out how to release my IP address back to Verizon (residential connection). I have disabled and enabled the interface, tried to run this command, "killall dhclient" - "/var/chroot-dhcpc/usr/sbin/dhclient -r -v eth1". So I'm running out of options.

eth0 - LAN - 192.168.2.1
eth1 - WAN

System Setup:
Dell PowerEdge 840 running VMware ESXI 5 with 2 Intel Pro 1000 cards in it.

I can get online already, just want to make that clear. I just want to get the IP released.

    Hi, Ryan, and welcome to the User BB!

    This is just a guess...  I bet you're releasing the IP, but your ISP's DHCP server won't give you a different IP until it sees a different MAC address.

    FIOS is kinda tricky.  If you don't release the IP, you can wait 2-3 hours for a different MAC to get an IP address.  Also, I seem to recall seeing the behavior you mention (e.g. not getting a new IP unless the MAC is different...)

    I have called Verizon hundred's of times to get the lease broken. I just want to cut down on that. It's sad that there is no clear cut way I can just do a DHCP Release.

    The Astaro VM and this other Firewall VM both exist on the same "Internet" network. The Astaro VM has the Verizon IP 108.43.145.*** . VMware ESXI does generate different MAC address's for every network card you add to every VM.

    Can you change the MAC in ESXi? 
    e.g. use the same MAC for both VMs (since I assume they won't both be running at the same time).
