Routing Question

Hi,

how can i provide connections with my ASG220 from my vlan interfaces, which i put on eth2,3,6 (10.0.***.0/24) to the Lan 10.0.0.0/16 (eth0)?

Right now routing only works for hosts from vlan 10.0.***.0/24 to 10.0.0.0/16 and vice versa, but not for 10.0.2.0/16 (which is pretty cruel to me, because 10.0.0.0/16 should serve for 10.0.2.0/16 too?!?)  

I'm pretty sure the problem is the subnetmask. Can anybody lead me to the right direction please? I'm wondering now for a few days too much....

    Hi, does somebody have any suggestions to me, how to converge the class B LAN with my class C VLANs? 

    I want to split the big broadcasting range 10.0.0.0/16 into smaller class C ones. 



    A PC with the ip-address 10.0.106.44(/24) can ping a client on 10.0.105.11(/24) which are connected over 2 Layer3 switches wich are properly connected via a 802.1q trunk. My last resort is the ASG wich also routes the packets through those VLANs. BUT only those wich are on 10.0.***.0/24 and the not to and from 10.0.***.0/16

    My question is now: Which is a proper route (and where may i set that in the ASG?) to lift over those packets from the ***/16 to the ***/24 and back ?!?

    I don't see a way to do that.

    You need to move either the /16 OR the /24 VLANs to a new range that does not conflict.

    e.g. put all the VLANs in 10.1.x.x

    If you don't, you will be plagued by problems, potentially more severe than what you're already seeing.

    Hey Barry, 

    i agree. I think also, it's just not possible because of the overlapping Network / Host bits on the subnetmask. So i decided to rearrange all the devices to the new structure within a /24 network. Sounds like a night shift to me. But that'll do it. Thx for your help.
