Reboot log info not found

I had a ups battery go bad on my astaro gateway,  I accidentally powered off the ups, the astaro gateway shut down with it, I cant find anything in the logs regarding the reboot or shut down, any thoughts?[:$]

    You won't find any info on the shutdown if power was killed instantly, but you should find info on the startup in the boot log (WebAdmin>>Logging>>View Log Files).  Keep in mind that the logs roll over at midnight and the previous days info can be found in the log archive tab.

    Checked boot messages and admin notification nothing......  admin notifications does show reboot after update but that was earlier in the morning so its not that.  boot messages only shows boot ups on 7-7-11 and not for today 7-8-11 hmm maybe a bug ?

    Or possible corruption based on the instant power loss.  Try doing a normal graceful restart and see if anything shows.

    Well did the reboot still nothing in logs although there was something in the boot logs for that date, but instanly dissapeared as i was reading it, go figure. On the reboot the cpu was maxed out, rebooted again still maxed... reinstalled all is fine...
     
    To be safe Home users... always use a UPS.
    Dont know if its mentioned in manual but could be easy to over look for noobs....


    btw i was wondering if there is any future support for ups controls in astaro..

    There already is some.  From the Admin Guide/in-line help:
    UPS Device Support
    Uninterruptible Power Supply(UPS) devices maintain a continuous supply of electric power to connected equipment by supplying power from a separate source when utility power is not available. Astaro Security Gateway supports UPS devices of the manufacturers MGE UPS Systems and APC. The communication between the UPS device and Astaro Security Gateway is made via the USB interface.

    As soon as the UPS device runs in battery operation, a notification is sent to the administrator. If the power failure persists for a longer period and the voltage of the UPS device approximates a critical value, another message will be sent to the administrator—the Astaro Security Gateway will be shut down automatically.


    There must be a usb connection between the Astaro and UPS prior to boot up (can't add new hardware on the fly).  There is a feature request for the number of UPSs recognized to be expanded.  AstaroOS: More Supported UPS Devices

    Havent read manual yet but glad to see support for it, just what i thought.. did plug in after boot havent had chance to config it yet.  to top things off my cmos bat on board died too.....[:D]
