ASG 625 setting up load balanced cluster

Hi, I've checked the docs and attempted twice to do this. Each time, automatic configuration wants to make my two ASG 625's into an Active/passive cluster. This is not what I want. I was reading that the manual configuration method would work, but then it reset the slave system to factory, and I had to do the basic config over again. But, I could not enable clustering without having the two connected. As soon as I connect them, they start configuration to an a/p cluster.
So, it's a chicken-and-egg question. How do I manually set up a load-balanced cluster when I can't configure the ASG's for clustering without having eth3 plugged in? Is there a step by step someone has created? because a search on the forums doesn't reveal anything.

    Just as a side note, if I then select Active/Active, it prompts me, "do you want to change to cluster configuration?" I select OK, and it just snaps back to active/passive. 
    I did read you had to switch off cluster operation and switch it back on again, but that resets the box and I'm back to square one!

    Gary & Maygyver, I guess that your issue was simply that your installed license wasn't for a cluster of two units.  If you have a cluster license, you need to install it before you connect the second device.

    1. Factory reset Slave and power both units off.
    2. Connect units at least on eth3* (sync interface), but preferably all interfaces connected to appropriate switches.
    3. Power up Master.
    4. Configure Clustering with auto-discovery.
    5. Power up Slave.

    That should do it unless something has changed recently.

    Well, thanks very much to both of you. I did pay for a cluster license, but will check to make sure it indicates that. The problem is that I'm doing this in a live environment so I can't really bring them both down. (surprising how cranky doctors get when they can't check their sports news or stock quotes during the day!) Since I already did the procedure twice with the same result, license being incorrect is the only logical explanation. I might request a feature that throws a message up or logs a message when the license is the cause of the failure.

    Thanks again gentlemen - it turns out it was a licensing error. Has been corrected and the units are now in clustered operation!
