I have a Windows 2008 R2 domain with a primary and a secondary controller. My set up is like this:
Astaro v. 8.002 - 192.168.2.1
Primary DC - 192.168.2.3
Secondary DC - 192.168.2.4
Astaro is set up as a standard authenticating proxy (I can't get SSO to work, but that is another story), and is handing out DHCP which points to itself for the gateway, then the primary and secondary controllers respectively for DNS and WINS. DNS forwarding from the internal network goes to Astaro, which then uses OpenDNS.
That all works a treat, but while doing some maintenance on my disk array, I decided it would be a good time to do some contingency planning and see if everything would be kosher if the primary went down. Everything ran smoothly until I tried to get to the internet. I could not get a connection while still going through the proxy. If I unchecked the proxy, I could, but it was painstakingly slow.
Does anyone know why I had a problem browsing when Astaro should not care about the controller configuration? Further, if there need to be adjustments to my setup, then I welcome any suggestions.
Thank you for your time.
