DHCP client hostnames not visible in DNS?

I can see that static DHCP leases have a check-box for making the client hostname visible in DNS. Is there any way (say, a global option) to do the same for regular, dynamic clients?

Hmmm, I notice that the static mappings don't work either. e.g. I check the checkbox to enter a DNS entry, but nothing seems to happen. Working around that by adding a static DNS entry...
