Reporting-Web Security

Hello. I have a system running version 8.003. When i go to reporting-Web Security i can see a list of IP addresses,sites and traffic in MB (among other).
How do i know if this traffic is downloaded or uploaded to the client?

    Also, i don't see what time this traffic occurs. I mean that it's ok perhaps if a users downloads 2GB at 18.00 (after working hours) but it's a problem if he does it during working hours.
    So how can i have this information?

    Post #1: On the 'Network Usage' 'Accounting' tab, you can look at clients and servers for port 80.

    Post #2: At present, you would need to go to the 'Search' tab in 'Logging' and search on the IP of the potential offender to find that answer.  There are some external reporting tools available.

    Hello. Not very practic. What should i say to department managers (who have access to reporting)? Go to Network Usage and check for port 80? I think that reporting is not only for IT's since you provided access to reports for non admin users. They should be able to get the reports easily and be easy to understand.
    If i remember correctly these information were available untill version 6. I don't see why it was changed to a less flexible configuration.
    Could you suggest the external tools you mentioned?

    I went to Network Usage>Accounting tab, I don't see in and out traffic, it shows total traffic, so how do I know if this is in plus out traffic or just in or out???

    On the top clients report, which is the default landing page for accounting, it is total traffic for the client, inbound + outbound. If you click on the IP address of a client it will give you the breakdown of separate in and out by protocol used. You can also use the dropdowns at the top to get the same information and more.
     
    Take a few minutes and play with the various reports here to see what information you get. You can also click on the question mark icon in the upper right portion of any page in WebAdmin to access the in-line help.
     
    gband: Sounds like your department managers are probably much more interested in surfing habits than anything else. In this case, you need to direct them to the Web Security reports and not Network Usage. Here they can see what web sites a user has visited, which is exactly the level of detail that V6 provided. YOU will need to provide then the knowledge and understanding to understand the information provided in the report, such as why the number of requests may be high for some domains (web pages being a collection of web objects that can come from different servers and self refreshing web components).  I do like the idea of adding a time parameter to the reporting searches and have made a feature request for this.  Add votes if you still want this.  http://feature.astaro.com/forums/17359-astaro-security-gateway-feature-requests/suggestions/1370171-reporting-time-parameter?ref=title

    Ok I see that in the network usage accountign tab.  but what about the executive reports, is the total traffic total in+out?

    I took a quick look at what WebAdmin was telling me at 11:59PM last night, then checked on the exec report this morning.   Total traffic in the exec report appears to be in+out.
