How to specify "servicename" for PPPoE connection ?

Hello,
My ISP requires to "servicename" parameter be specified to establish PPPoE connection. However I didn't find how to do this via web control panel (I'm evaluating Astaro home gateways 7 and 8 for home use)
Can any body suggest a solution ?
Or may be Astaro will include this option to future releases ?

Regards, Vladimir.

  • Hi, Vladimir, and welcome to the User BB!

Did your ISP provide you with a "servicename" that you need to use, or do they want to know your setting?  What if you just tell them "PPPoE" is your servicename?

To see what others have experienced, try a google: site:astaro.org pppoe service name

    Cheers - Bob
  • Hi BAlfson,
My ISP provides me with "servicename" - it should be equal to "ruhost". I've done some testing with packets captured by wireshark and found that if servicename is not specified i didn't receive PADO packet after sending PADI ("offer" after "initiate")

So my conclusion this parameter does required to setup PPPoE link with my ISP
    Regards Vladimir.
