[8.000] Dhcpd not running - restarted

I upgraded my firewall yesterday to v8.000

I just got back from being out at dinner with the family and the dhcpd daemon was restarted twice. Has anyone noticed this? It was a clean install of 7.951 then the Up2date to 8.000, no restore from backup. I'm using the DHCP and DNS services and the HTTP proxy. No IPS, SMTP/POP3 proxies. Quite a simple configuration. I do have some reserved DHCP address assignments.

Things seem to have settled down. I have not received any further dhcpd restart notifications.
Oh well. I'm enjoying V8. Lots of nice features to play around with.

what does the Dhcpd not running INFO-122 relate to? I am getting these fairly often in my alerts. I am running 7.505

The dhcpd (Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol Daemon) hands out IP addresses, DNS addresses, etc to computers that request them in your LAN. IF it's not running, you can't get an IP address from your ASG. What might be causing it is another issue. You'd have to dump some of the log files to see what might be causing it.

ok I have another I am getting alot of INFO-852 Intrusion Prevention Alert (packet dropped)

any ideas.

my ASG does not hand out addresses. What log file should I look at to find the cause of this?

I'd look at the dhcpd log first (Logging>View Log Files>DHCP Server), then the system log (System messages)

Also. If your ASG doesn't hand out addresses, is it configured to be running? If you don't use the DHCPd functionality, shut it off.

actually I figured it out, it was my RED device that was not plugged in at my house.

Ahh good. Glad you figured it out. I'm not going to pretend to know how that caused dhcpd errors. But, good for you.
