Unable to disable

According to the online help, I should be able to temporarily disable a user account by setting their Authentication to "None":
  • None: Select to prevent the user from authentication completely. This is useful, for example, to disable a user temporarily without the need to delete the user definition altogether.

However, when I try to disable an account that is authorized for VPN access, I get denied:
Cannot apply changes:
User is used for authentication.

This seems to fly in the face of the documentation; am I reading too much into it?

  • Are you trying to disable the person while he's using the VPN?

  • No sir, there are no users active.
  • What do you see in the User Authentication log?

  • I see nothing by my WebAdmin logins.  The account in question is one that I set up for VPN testing a couple of weeks ago and haven't used since, but I'd rather keep the configuration set up but disabled than blow it all away.

  • Nope, it's just a regular user account, and the only places it is referenced is in the various VPN user lists.
