email notifications to a email server needing ssl connection

hi all
astaro application related but i guess related to all asg
How does one configure a external smtp gateway for notifications which requires ssl authentication ? for example hosted gmail.com

    You can't use the SMTP Proxy with gmail.  Do you control your own domain email hosted on a google server?  What notifications are you talking about?  Which email client are you using?
