Can I replace NIC On Astaro?

I'm in the process of upgrading my network to gigabyte.  So I'm trying to swap out NICS in all my machines.  If I swap out my astaro LAN NIC with a gigabyte NIC, what will happen?  Will it auto detect it, plus the drivers?  Any recommendation on doing this?

Oh and its probably pointless to do a gigabyte NIC on my WAN side right?  Since my Comcast is only 6MB Down and 1MB Up ?

    Well I have 2 NICS in there, one which my cable modem plugs into, and the other NIC (LAN side) hooks into my 24 port switch.  So why wouldn't replacing the LAN side NIC help throughput?  I'm guessing because I'm not traversing the Astaro unit if I'm coping files from my PC to my fileserver for example?
