Under "Users > Authentication > Servers" I had one Active Directory server listed and as we have two domain servers, I cloned the server and changed the server name and IP address so that if one failed, a backup server was available.
However, I didn't realise at that time that the newly added server was offline and within a couple of hours of makng the change, mail stopped arriving. It seems that as I have configured Astaro to verify e-mail reciptients based upon their existence in AD, and that the newly added AD server was offline, all incoming messages were rejected. Once I disabled the newly added (offline) server, mail came through as usual.
Does this happen by design? Shouldn't the listed AD server entries fail over? Or should only one AD server be listed? The help screen states that "Position: ... Backend servers with lower numbers will be queried first." but in this case, the lack of availability of the number 2 server did not result in the queries reverting to the number 1 server.
