Stange DNS behaviour on second internal network

I have the Astaro setup with two internal networks both on their own network card.
Everything is working fine except for the one static entry I have. On the default internal network the DNS entry works fine however on the second network all external DNS work but the static does not work correctly.

If I try and ping the entry it does not find the address. However if I use nslookup then it does find it.

Anyone have any ideas?

    My guess is that you need to add the second network to 'Allowed Networks' in the DNS proxy configuration.

    Already done. As I mentioned DNS resolution is working fine for DNS addresses passed on to the Astaro DNS by my ISP's DNS server it is only the one static address that does not work.

    Well, we'd need to look at your packet filter log and list of PF rules to be certain, but it certainly sounds like you aren't using the Astaro DNS proxy to get name resolution in that second network.

    In doing research on this problem I realised that the DNS server on Windows Home server is functional. I had tried installing it some time ago but had an error when the service was started and taken it that it needed AD to function. 

    As it is a fully functional DNS server rather then basically a caching only server like the Astaro server, So I reinstalled it and set it up with dynamic DNS on the internal networks. I have now pointed both the DHCP ranges at the Home server for DNS info.

    Now the home server is resolving correctly for both networks.

    Thanks for the help BAlfson even if I did finish up moving away from the Astaro solution for DNS.
