Another DNS Question

All-

From time to time I see this message in the DNS proxy log:

2009:12:16-18:30:00 OASIS named[2561]: client 192.168.1.2#1714: RFC 1918 response from Internet for 1.1.168.192.in-addr.arpa


How do I correct this?

    If you have an internal reverse DNS server for 1.168.192, you can use DNS 'request routing' to send those queries to the internal server, assuming you're running a relatively modern version of Astaro.

    Thanks for responding. I do not have an internal reverse server for DNS. The Astaro box is the only DNS server(ver 7.502) using DynDNS as the forwarders. All devices on the lan look to the Astaro DNS proxy(192.168.1.1) as the internal DNS server which forwards to DynDNS resolvers. So in this case will request routing correct the situation? Should request routing be configured for all of the devices on the lan?

    Umm, I don't think DynDNS can handle being a forwarder.  Isn't it supposed to be set up where your LAN clients use your Astaro as the DNS server and the Astaro acts as a forwarder to your DNS servers of choice (your ISP's servers usually)?

    I could be totally wrong, but that's the way mine is set up and it works well.  Of course I may be talking apples and oranges for your problem.

    Your description sounds fine, but you just won't have reverse DNS, and will probably continue to see warnings like the one at the top of this thread.
    Nothing worth worrying about for home use though.

    Thanks. Just to clairify DynDNS is set up under Network Services>DNS>DNS Forwarders. I have two resolver addresses entered. Use forwarders assigned by ISP is unchecked. Astaro is the internal DNS server. IE: Lan Device maske DNS request to Astaro. Astaro then makes request to DNS forwarders(DynDNS Resolver). All internal lan devices use Astaro as the DNS server for the lan(192.168.1.1).  I don't see the warnings very often. So when I saw it, naturally I had a question.
