Avira create instance failed (return code 3)

Out of the blue today, I get a report that nobody can access the internet. 
Whenever we attempt to open a webpage outside of our network, we get the following block reason:

While trying to retrieve the URL: Google 
Error message: Failed to get scanner instance 

This occurs on any page we try to go to.

I checked the logs, and the http content filter log gave the following error messages:

Turning off the antivirus scanner fixes the issue, rebooting does not.
We're running an Astaro Security Gateway 220 on version 7.501.

    That's not normal - I don't think it can be caused by a misconfiguration.  I think you had a failed Up2Date or something else that corrupted something.  You might try a configuration restore, but I bet you're faced with a factory reset and possibly a reload from CDROM.

    Hopefully, you've already submitted a support request via your MyAstaro account.

    It's not a misconfiguration; I have several customers experiencing this; it appears a recent up2date put a corrupt AV definition on there, crashing the AV engine; you will need to disable AV scanning temporarily. I have opened support cases on the issue, and you should as well if you have support.
