I don't understand "Network usage -> Accounting tab", please help

Hello,

please look at this picture  .

Could somebody explain, why the first row (213.227.210.11 is the WAN IP) shows 2.6 GB, and if we sum all LAN IP's traffic, we definitely will not get 2.6 GB.

I didn't sum right now, but today afternoon there were 1.6 GB at WAN IP vs. 470 MB of all LAN IPs summary.

And if we sum WAN IP total traffic and the summary traffic of all LAN IPs, we will get the total amount of 3.8 GB, as shown at the bottom.

I don't understand how 2.6 GB for WAN IP appears, why?..

P.S. Of course I understand that Astaro has "service" traffic - updates, signatures etc... But it can't be more than 1GB per day...

    Are you counting ALL of the WAN clients? That's only the top 19 in your screenshot.

    If I summarize all LAN IP traffic, I will not get 2.6 GB anyway. The difference is very big.

    However, I've got an explanation.

    Very simple. If we use http proxy (I use since I need content filtering), all web traffic from LAN IPs will be counted as gateway's traffic, as far as gateway itself negotiates a connection with the remote site as a proxy.

    And all that traffic from LAN IPs, shown on a picture above, this is not web traffic. This is SMTP, POP3, whatever else - in general, this traffic was not proxied, it goes directly through the NAT to the remote servers. Thats why Astaro counts it in another way.

    If we use, for example, SMTP proxy, this SMTP traffic also will not be shown as separate one, it will be added to the WAN IP traffic accounting.

    For per user web traffic, we need to look at the “Reporting – Web Security – Web Usage”.
