Root partition mounted at / is filling up

Hi, I'm getting notifications from the ASG ver. 6.315 that the "Root partition mounted at / is filling up" (85%). I've read on one of the forums that it is recommended to delete the old pattern-files somewhere deeper under /etc/up2date/pattern... 
Can someone please give me some guidance on how to do this? 
The Logs are set to be cleared every 10 days as well and is it 35MB, just thought it's worth mentioning. Thanks.
