Hello,
i had an old mailserver that was functional till about a month ago,
it kept crashing due to a heating problem...
now i have a new proliant DL180 GS
i had to transfer the device name to the new machine, to avoid conflicts in the network, i renamed the old machine temporarely to "name"-old
now the old mailserver is being used to stock iso's and the name has been changed to "iso-store"...(it is also a additional domain controller)
but now the rest of the servers still try to establish a connection to : "name"-old.
is there a way to get rid of this name and get "iso-store" and get the machines to establish connections to that DC.
Also i get a Kerberos error from my global catalog server, when it is trying to acces the NEW mailserver... this usualy means(according to MS)
that there are 2 machines with the same account :s
so i suspect that the old mailserver (now iso-store) also carries his first name.
or maybe it is cached somewhere in one of the other servers, mayb the GC itself...
when i look at AD users/comp--comp: i see iso-store + the old name of this machine being : "name"-old
i hope i explained my problem the right way, since english is not my native language.
this is the error
Windows Operating System
ID: 4
Source: Kerberos
Version: 5.2
Symbolic Name: KERBEVT_KRB_AP_ERR_MODIFIED
Message: The kerberos client received a KRB_AP_ERR_MODIFIED error from the server %1. The target name used was %3. This indicates that the password used to encrypt the kerberos service ticket is different than that on the target server. Commonly, this is due to identically named machine accounts in the target realm (%2), and the client realm. Please contact your system administrator.
thanks in advance...
