Astaro/wireless conflict

I am no longer able to install a wireless router since installing Astaro.  I have a linksys router that worked fine until the Astaro but since then if I am able to log on remotely it knocks me off the web at the PC.  Any ideas would be great help.  I tried a new router yesterday but, installed properly, it and the PC fail to connect to the web.

    Not sure what you mean by "properly" in this instance as the router and the Astaro shouldn't be installed the same way together as when installed alone.  In fact, the Astaro obviates the need for a router, and most folks would use their wireless router as a switch/wireless access point behind the Astaro.

    Don't use the router's WAN port.  If you were running DHCP for your network on the router, you should turn that off or turn off DHCP in the Astaro.

    Does that resolve your issues?

    To clarify, I had the router installed an working properly so that I was able to work from my laptop while my wife worked on the PC.  She installed this Astaro to be able to communicte wioth a specific cleint and that client only.  Since that time I am either unable to connect via my laptop or if I am able to connect it boots her off the web.  What I need is to be able for both of us to be on at the same time and for her to not lose the ability to connect via Astaro.  Thanks for the reply but maybe this will add light to the situation.  Bob

    The problem you are having sounds unusual, maybe you can explain how you have everything cabled and connected together? Also, the IP scheme ie. what device is being assigned as the default gateway for the laptop, pc etc. and what features you are using on the astaro would also be useful to troubleshoot the issue.

    Is your wife using the astaro to connect to the client via a VPN tunnel? When you cannot access the internet are you getting an astaro error page in your browser?

    Well let me try.  Time Warner cable into the cable modem, then out to the wireless transmitter then into the PC.  It all looks fine but no connection to the web.  No error messages but just won't conect.  The Astaro indicates "use config-file settings" Astaro SSL VPN Client and then the name of the client and .com.trans2  The PC IP is 24.74.45.128 I have tried 2 different wireless transmitters and get the same result with both.  No connection to the internet.  My wireless setup is a WEP/WPA Key deal with an ESS connection.  It's way over my head. All I want to do is be able to use my laptops without booting Lisa off line.  Bob

    OK, I had a feeling you might not have astaro in your network, now that I see you are just using the astaro ssl vpn to connect to a remote astaro. 

    The astaro ssl vpn client on the pc shouldn't effect your laptops ability to connect to the internet, in most cases. You should check that you have the modem connected to the WAN port on the wireless router. The router should get an IP of 24.74.45.128 (or similiar), and your pc should have a private ip ex: 192.168.1.100. Not sure if Time warner locks MAC addresses but if you have been swapping devices it may be necessary to reboot the modem as well.

    Thanks for the reply.  My setup is as follows.  Out of the wall via coax to the TWC modem. Out of the modem ethernet 10/100 via fat phone cable into the wireless router at the ethernet port, the only inlet port, and then out via fat phone cable from one of 4 outlets to the computer.  I have both Linksys and Netgear woreless routers and both have the same configuration of ports.  One ethernet in and 4 outs.  Neither allows web acces when installed.  ??
