No logging and corrupt database

Hi all

At a customer no executive reports have been send for months and no web or mail statistics are showing at the dashboard or anywhere else.

The log is filling up with messages like this:
2009:06:18-23:31:45 burmeisterfw ulogd[3197]: pg1: unable to connect: FATAL: "pg_tblspc/16519/16520" is not a valid data directory DETAIL: File "pg_tblspc/16519/16520/PG_VERSION" is missing.
2009:06:18-23:31:50 burmeisterfw postgres[7045]: [3-1] FATAL: "pg_tblspc/16519/16520" is not a valid data directory
2009:06:18-23:31:50 burmeisterfw postgres[7045]: [3-2] DETAIL: File "pg_tblspc/16519/16520/PG_VERSION" is missing.

And a: psql -s
reports: psql: FATAL:  database "root" does not exist

I looks like the datebase is seriously corrupt.
Do anyone know how to repair or rebuild it.
Old data do not need to be saved.

  • Hi Bob

Right now it's version 7.403 and it's an ASG 110 but the problem appeared while running 7.3xx.
I've tried above commands and reporting fails
psql -Ureporting -c"reindex database reporting;" reporting
psql: FATAL:  "pg_tblspc/16519/16520" is not a valid data directory
    DETAIL:  File "pg_tblspc/16519/16520/PG_VERSION" is missing

The other databases (pop3 and smtp) processes without errors.

    Regards

    Malik
