Bandwidth reporting accuracy

I am on an isp that limits per month download/upload amount. I need to be able to monitor this. Is this possible in Astaro free home version gateway and is it accurate in the latest version? So if I download say 125GB in a month or whatever will it show this and be accurate?

I'd like to be notified via email if possible to remind me when I'm getting close to 250GB per month.

    im not running ASG. thats why i asked the question if accuracy has been fixed yet or not. this was the reason i stopped using ASG, it was totally inaccurate.

    Are you in North America?  Fire your ISP just because they measure!  There's so much unused fiber in the ground that bandwidth usage should not be a problem.

    Hi buggs1a, 

    the accounting of Astaro is very correct. We use the netfilter/iptables connection tracking to count every connection aka netflow accounting. so i am pretty sure the counted traffic is correct. 

    One thing that could be problematic in your case is, that we do not attach the interfaces (in and out) to the reported data, but report basically on IPs and on throughput. If you only have two interfaces, this is not a problem. 

    I notification on bandwidth usage quota is not available.

    Hi Gert,
    I have a further question on the counting.
    Each of the groups has a packet count at the top of the webadmin menu tab for the traffic type
    web
    pF
    mail proxy.
    Is there any double counting between traffic type reports. How do you determine the actual traffic through the ASG because the summary at the top of each traffic type is the total of all IP addresses and cannot be divided by 2 to arrive at the traffic on an interface.
    My traffic user count is not equal to traffic by domain.

    When I tried asg 7 last year the reporting was not correct. I would download data and what asg reported was inaccurate amount. It would say a certain amount was downloaded over the WAN but it wasn't correct. At least this is what I remember but I could be thinking of untangle. 

    Then I want to know if I could use asg in vmware to be a router. 
    I'd have cable modem to router to switch.
