Uplink Failover with DSL Router?

Hi Folks,

we have an Astaro ASG220 Box with 7.401 on it. The Astaro is connected to the Internet via an DSL PPPOE connection. We also have a second DSL connection which we are using mainly for a VPN connection with a branch office. This VPN connection is handled by an dedicated DSL router whose internal IP address is in the same subnet as the internal interface of the Astaro. Is it possible to use this router as an automatic failover if the PPPOE connection of the Astaro is not available, respectively, how has the Astaro to be configured to do that?

    Torsten, it sounds like you want Uplink Balancing and Multipathing. Check the following articles in the Astaro KnowledgeBase (this is not an exhaustive list):
    • How to configure WAN Uplink Balancing
    • How to balance HTTP (or other specific traffic) over all WAN links
    • Forcing HTTP (or other unique traffic) over a specific interface when balancing WAN links
