SMTP\POP Portforwards

I am having trouble with my Outlook after I put my Astaro into service. It doesn't find the mail servers for my 2 email accounts. I had set up 2 packet forward rules to allow traffic on port 25 & port 110, but it still doesn't work. I am not sure what I am doing wron can anyone give me a hand please?

    Without some more information, it's difficult to know where to start or how many things might be wrong. 

    Are you outside the Astaro trying to reach a mail server behind it? In the Astaro 'Internal (Network)' trying to reach gmail or ???

    If inside, are you using the SMTP and/or POP3 proxies?

    I am sorry. Ok I am trying to access 2 external email accounts (my work & Gmail accounts) from the Astaro "Internal (Network).

    I wasn't sure if I could use them or not. How does one configure those proxies to pull from an external address?

    You can configure the POP3 proxy to pre-fetch your gmail emails.  The email address in Outlook, your Astaro user account and the User Portal must all be identical for you to receive quarantine emails and to create a private whitelist; you can maintain the whitelist and access your personal quarantine from the User Portal.  You probably don't need to do that, but you can if you want to learn.

    You didn't say what email server you have at your office, or if your office uses commercial email.  if the latter, then the same thing is possible as with gmail.  Again, you probably have good anti-spam and anti-virus at work, so this may not be necessary either.

    It's unlikely you'll want to activate the SMTP proxy in your situation.  It really only works well for in-house mailservers and commercial servers where you have control of the public DNS records.

    So, to start, you can bypass Email Security and leave your Outlook configured exactly as it was before.  The Astaro is a stateful firewall, so you only need to open outbound ports.  Create a packet filter rule with the pre-installed services group: 'Internal (Network) -> Email messaging -> Any : Allow'.  That should allow email to flow just as it did prior to having the Astaro in place.

    All I had to go do was add in the packet filter. I guess I missed that durning the initial setup. Thanks for your help. This software is rather interesting. I am working on a few things, & this is by far the best thing I have ever run on my home network.
