How to configure one interface as dhcp-client for management purposes

Hello everyone,

is it possible to configure one of ASGs interfaces as dhcp-client? This interface wouldn't be used in a productive environment but it could be useful to "find" an ASG that comes in for reparation or reconfigureing.
That way whenever I need to log onto an ASG I could just plug a cable into the "management-interface", watch my dhcp-log and log on. No more need to adjust my PCs IP-adress to a suitable network and so on.

Did anyone try this before? From the interfaces-Screen (Network -> Interfaces) I don't see a way to make such a configuration...

Cheers

  • Very creative idea!  Have you tried just creating an interface definition as "Cable modem (DHCP)?  You might have to create a static route to get it to work; there are others here who understand that much better than I.
