Lotus Notes 8.5 and LDAP.

I would like to use Lotus Notes LDAP to verify the new users and then autocreate them. When I test the LDAP server and check verification all shows 'a green light'. When login into the EndUser portal it is not possible to login as a new user. Anyone suggestions ?
