DNS resolving issue

Hi there,
We have ASG 7.305 and we are using the http proxy and the dns proxy is set to forward to our internal DNS server. If our domain is localdomain.org there is no problem of resolving http://testhost.localdomain.org, but when I try to resolve http://testhost I receive error page - Host not found. I log into ASG shell and try ping testhost and it is resolved correctly.
I think that there some workaround to avoid using FQDN in browser, but I'm not sure is it available via webadmin or I have to edit some files via ssh. Can someone help me about that?

    Do all the clients know the FULL domain name?
    If so, they should do lookups on that domain first.

    Try this if you clients run Windows:

    H:\>ipconfig /all

    Windows IP Configuration

            Host Name . . . . . . . . . . . . : barry
            Primary Dns Suffix  . . . . . . . : mydomain.net

    Barry, man, you lost me there.  Do you mean he should go to the testhost machine and run that to see if it knows it's "testhost"?

    We had Novell Security Manager powered by Astaro which is based on ASG 6 and it was using squid as proxy and there wasn't such DNS issue and workaround for solution was by putting append_domain .localdomain.org in /var/chroot-squid/etc/squid.conf-default The problem is that ASG 7 not using squid as proxy and there isn't such file - /var/chroot-squid/etc/squid.conf-default I'm wondering if there is something similar in ASG 7 ...
    I found this file - /var/storage/chroot-http/etc/httpproxy.ini but I'm not sure is this the right file to edit and what exactly to edit. If some one know that, please help.
    Our DNS server have worked fine with Novell proxy and it is the same DNS server now and all clients know full domain name but the issue still exists [:(]
    Temporary I use 'Static Entry' in 'Network >> DNS' but this is not the best way - we have a lot of local hosts providing web servicies.

    OK, this is a different question.

    I may be a little confused.  By the "Novell Proxy," I assume you mean the "HTTP Proxy prior to V7."  AFAIK, there is no way to "append" the domain as you did in prior versions.

    In Microsoft networking, this is handled very easily and more properly in the DNS server.  We are not knowledgeable when it comes to Netware, so I'm sorry I can't be of more help.

    By the "Novell proxy" I've meaned "Novell Security Manager powered by Astaro" v.6.
    According to Astaro support guys there is no way to "append" the domain in this version of ASG too [:(]
    "Unfortunately" we do not use MS DNS server , but Novell DNS server and AFAIK there is no way of resolving this issue except using Static Entries in ASG.
    Anyway, thanks for commitment!
